Multi Criteria Decision Analysis for Optimum DG Placement in Smart Grids

Abstract—The future electricity distribution networks employ small-scale Distributed Generation (DG) units due to their numerousadvantages.Thispapersetsouttofindthebestlocation for placing a DG unit so as to optimize certain parameters of interest. We formulate the issue of finding the most suitable place for a DG unit using Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). In addition to discussing a new approach for DG placement, this paper shows that choosing the best place for a DG unit can significantly affect the performance of a distribution network. Index Terms—Decision Analysis, Distributed Generation (DG), Loop Configuration, Smart Grids.
